3-A-Certificate

Hellma has developed the 3-A certified optical UV/Vis/NIR immersion probe Excalibur HY 25 (3-A), a product that meets the hygiene requirements of the established standard from the USA, and is supplied with a 3-A certificate. The requirements of the 3-A consortium were originally developed for equipment in the dairy processing industry and are among the highest in the world. They therefore apply in many other countries as well. Meanwhile, the 3-A certification is also established in other food sectors. The probe is suitable for various applications with high hygiene requirements, for example in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

The complex certification process begins with an assessment of the design, during which minimum radii, avoidance of cavities and other specifications must be observed in accordance with the applicable standard ANSI/3-A 00-01-2018 with the specific requirements for the probes according to 46-04 must be observed.

The materials used must be FDA approved. Furthermore, the manufacturing process, handling and storage of materials and tools are also inspected to ensure the high quality requirements and safe process flow (e.g. avoidance of cross-contamination). The approval process of the production facility is simplified if the components used (the probe) are already certified.
